“I received your book a few days ago and have read it cover to cover. It is very inspiring and gave me some new ideas. I particularly liked the shed build and the small fields design. I have always dismissed cereal crops but I’m going to give it a shot.”

“Just a brief message to say I loved ‘21st Century Hoe Farming’. I thought it was a brilliant mix of practical advice and political (in the broadest sense) inspiration, all wrapped up in a hundred-plus pages – with illustrations. I have a shelf full of books on permaculture, forest gardening and other worthy subjects, but none of them has made me quite so keen to get my hands on a hoe and an acre of land.

“I read your book, ‘21st century hoe farming’ and I found it extremely moving. You’ve captured so eloquently the vision I’ve long harboured of a life well lived, engaging with the natural world in an ancient, intuitive way.
I found a kinship to the exhortations of your book towards the kind of soft, human cultivation you’ve painted so lovingly, and I discovered a renewed flame burning deep within myself to press bravely on towards the vision I’ve long felt “in the deep heart’s core” as Yeats penned.

Your book 21st century Hoe Farming arrived today and it’s been a wonderful read – simple, practical and quietly challenging.
Now, if only I had another thirty years …

I love the book so far!! (21st century Hoe Farming). One of my new favorites. Reminds me of Masanobu Fukuoka’s ‘One Straw Revolution’. Brilliant.

I love the illustrations on the cover and inside the book.  I decided to add a bit of color to the cover.S. Loyd, IL, United States

“The book (21st century hoe farming) was a true pleasure to read. It’s very well-written, in a lucid style, and the drawings add a whole extra dimension of information.
The way in which you cultivate your soil, via a small field system, makes a lot of sense now that it has been explained to me. On top of that, it looks great too, and beauty is nourishment for our souls. I’ve never come across it before, as most vegetable growers use beds rather than bounded fields.
Of course, what fascinates me is that you manage to grow cereals without machines. Indeed, that’s unique as far as I can tell, and I find it very encouraging that this can be done without an army of helpers.
The one thing I truly don’t understand is how you can say that farming is easy. I find it quite challenging, which in a way, is also part of its appeal. Maybe because I’m rather new to it, while you have established routines that work for you.
Anyway, your book has helped me a lot in shaping my thoughts about how we could go around cultivating our own farm, so bless you for that.”
