Home-Made COMPOST
and how to regenerate the world’s depleted soils

By Gareth Lewis

“Underlying the question of what compost to use, how much of it is needed, and how you make it, is the wider question of how, you, as a human being approach the world. Do you believe in cooperation, or do you believe that as a last resort you always have to resort to coercion?

Making vegetable compost, allowing the soil to re-establish its own structure, accepting the fruit of the land as a gift, and only expecting your land to give you what you need for yourself, represents an exploration of working cooperatively. If you get it right, it should allow nature to express itself, and you to express yourself as part of nature. It could also be a starting point for a social order based on cooperation rather than control.”
